Aramis Ramirez is a third baseman for the Chicago Cubs. A native of the Dominican Republic, Ramirez originally signed with the Pittsburgh Pirates as an amateur free agent in 1994. After four seasons as a minor league prospect in the Pirates farm system, Ramirez made his major league debut on May 26, 1998. After five and a half seasons in Pittsburgh, the Pirates traded Ramirez, Kenny Lofton, and cash to the Cubs, in exchange for Jose Hernandez, Matt Bruback, and Bobby Hill. Ramirez made his first All-Star team with the Cubs in 2006.
On October 26, 2008, Aramis Ramirez received the Hank Aaron Award for the National League. Ramirez hit .289 with 27 homeruns and 111 runs batted in. Ramirez received the award during Game 4 of the World Series.ESPN.com: Ramirez takes home Hank Aaron award
