Aragorn, Son of Arathorn is a fictional character of J.R.R. Tolkien's Middle-earth. Aragorn aids Frodo Baggins on his quest to destroy the One Ring while bringing himself closer to reclaiming the kingship of Gondor.

Aragorn's Lineage
Though Aragorn is first introduced as a man named Strider from the mysterious group of forest-dwelling men called Rangers, he is part of a lost line of kings of the city of Gondor. Late in the books (but not the films), Aragorn reveals that the Rangers are his patrilineal line of kings in self-imposed exile. What's more, in Tolkien's history of Middle-earth called The Silmarillion it is revealed that Aragorn's line is descended from the union of an Elf and a human, making him partially elven. -
