April Fools cupcakes are not your typical treats consisting of cake and frosting. April Fools' cupcakes are sometimes regular cupcakes cleverly decorated like to look like other foods such as corn on the cob, or spaghetti and meatballs. Some cupcakes contain edible or inedible surprising inclusions, like gummy worms or cotton balls.
One well known April Fool's recipe for cupcakes uses a meatloaf recipe for the cake and dyed mashed potatoes for "icing." Victims will be lured in by assuring the unsuspecting victims that the cupcake is sugar free. -

Recipe for Meatloaf cupcake
Ingredients 1 pound of ground beef 1.2 cup bread crumbs 1 egg1/4 teaspoon salt 1/4 teaspoon pepper
Frosting ingredients 3 cups of mashed potatoes food coloring
Preheat oven to 350 degrees place the foil baking cups in muffin pan
Mix all the meat loaf ingredients until well blended. divide into 12 servings and place into the foil cups Fill until it is 3/4 full Place the muffin tin on a cookie sheet and bake for about 15 minutes or until done.
Divide the mashed potatoes into 3 bowls and stir in a few drops of food color to create yellow, blue and pink frosting. Spread on each cupcake. Serve
