  • April Cooper, along with five other girls, is accused of beating 16-year-old Victoria Lindsay on March 30, 2008. The girls reportedly intended to post the video on YouTube and MySpace in the hopes of embarrassing Lindsay, in retaliation for comments posted on Cooper's MySpace profile. The video allegedly shows Cooper slamming Victoria Lindsay's head into a bedroom wall, knocking her unconscious. Lindsay suffered a concussion from the beating, as well as hearing and vision damage.

While the beating was taking place, Zachary Ashley, 17, and Stephen Schumaker, 18, kept an eye out on the outside of the house.

The other girls involved in the beating are 17-year-olds Brittini Hardcastle, Mercades Nichols, Britney Mayes, 16-year-old Cara Murphy, and 15-year-old Kayla Hassell.

Cooper was released from jail on bail on April 12, 2008. Under the conditions of her release, she may not visit Mulberry High School grounds or go to the restaurant where Lindsay works. She may not have contact with the other people involved in the assault, and she may not use the Internet.
