Apple has filed patents for a multi-touch input surface. The design specifications describe a device that would resemble a curved screen. The ergonomic design would allow for more comfort with extended use, but more importantly, it would incorporate gestures, finger motions, and contact angle to allow for a higher degree of control, particularly in 3-D environments.
