On January 27, 2010, Apple announced their new iPad. The event, streamed live from the Yerba Buena Center for the Arts in San Francisco, California, was highly anticipated because of the expected announcement of the new tablet device.
The most important announcement made at the event was the release of the Apple iPad. This handheld tablet computer will be marketed between the iPhone and the MacBook not as a replacement for either but rather a complimentary device.
iPad Specs
The iPad has a 9.7-inch IPS display with full capacitive multi-touch, is 0.5 inches thin, and 1.5 pounds. The device has WiFi 802.11n and Bluetooth 2.1 EDR connectivity and runs on a 1 GHz Apple A4chip with 16 GB-64 GB flash storage. It has an accelerometer and compass, speaker, microphone and 30-pin connector.http://www.engadget.com/2010/01/27/live-from-the-apple-tablet-latest-creation-event/?sort=newest&refresh=30
Apple claims battery life of 10 hours and over a month on standby. "We've been able to achieve 10 hours of battery life," said Jobs. "I can take a flight from San Francisco to Tokyo and watch video the whole time." All iPhone apps can be run unmodified out of the box. Users have the option of running at iPhone resolution within a black box on the screen or can be pixel doubled to run the apps full screen. As developers modify their apps they can take full advantage of the iPad's display.http://i.engadget.com/2010/01/27/live-from-the-apple-tablet-latest-creation-event/?sort=newest&refresh=0
