Apollo 11

The Apollo 11 space mission was the first manned mission to land on the moon. Neil Armstrong and Buzz Aldrin walked on the moon on July 20, 1969.

When the Apollo 11 lunar module landed on the moon, Armstrong was the first to step on the surface. The event was televised around the world. Armstrong's first words as he touched the ground were, "That's one small step for a man, one giant leap for mankind." http://www.hq.nasa.gov/office/pao/History/ap11ann/FirstLunarLanding/ch-1.html
