Aphex Twin

-->
  • Aphex Twin is London-based electronic music composer and producer Richard D. James. Aphex Twin has recorded under a number of names and for various labels. His breakthrough work Selected Ambient Works 85-92 has been described as "both the birthplace and the benchmark of modern electronic music."

    Aphex Twin saw mainstream success with the singles "Windowlicker" and "Come to Daddy." Videos for both songs, directed by British artist Chris Cunningham, garnered attention for their disturbing imagery.

    In 2001, Aphex Twin departed from electronic music by releasing the 2-CD drukqs album, which included prepared piano tracks explicitly influenced by experimental composer John Cage. In 2004, Aphex Twin released a series of analogue pieces written and pressed exclusively to vinyl called the Analord series. Selections from the series were packaged for CD and released as Chosen Lords.

    It is rumored that Aphex Twin will be appearing at several music festivals in 2008 including Ireland's Oxegen Festival.
