The film featured the voices of several well-known actors including Woody Allen, Gene Hackman, Jennifer Lopez, and Sylvester Stallone. A month after Antz debuted Pixar released an animated film with a very similar premise titled A Bug's Life about an ant who falls in love with the princess of his colony. A Bug's Life performed better in the box office but Antz received a large amount of critical acclaim. In 1999 it was nominated for a BAFTA Film Award for Best Special Effects.
