  Following school, Pierce signed as an undrafted free agent with the Washington Redskins on April 22, 2001. He made his NFL debut that same year, playing in all 16 regular season games. Pierce continued with the Redskins until 2005, when he signed with the New York Giants. In 2006, he was selected to his first Pro Bowl.
