Antonio Gates

Antonio Gates is a NFL tight end for the San Diego Chargers.

Antonio Gates was born in Detroit, Michigan on June 18, 1980. He attended Central High School, where he played basketball and football. Gates attended Michigan State University, but then transferred to Eastern Michigan University. He eventually graduated from Kent State University. In 2003, Gates went undrafted when teams thought that he would pursue a career in the NBA. After changing his mind, Gates was signed as an undrafted free agent with the San Diego Chargers.Chargers.com: Antonio Gates

In his first season with the Chargers. Gates appeared in 15 games where he recorded 24 receptions and 2 touchdowns. In 2004, he was selected to his first Pro Bowl and he recorded his career best 13 touchdowns in a season. As of 2008, he has been selected every year to the Pro Bowl. Gates has also been named an All-Pro in 2004, 2005 and 2006. In 2007, he recorded 9 touchdowns and in 2008 he recorded 8 touchdowns for the Chargers.NFL.com: Antonio Gates
