Dr. Antonia Novello was New York State's Commissioner of Health from 1999 to 2006 under Governor Pataki. Dr. Novello was appointed by President George H.W. On May 12, 2009, Dr. Novello was charged with using her office for personal gain and using employees of her New York State office to run personal errands. Novello was charged with sixteen counts of misdemeanor theft of services, one count of defrauding the government and three felony counts of offering a false instrument for filing.
