New York City attorney Anthony Ottaviano was shot to death on Monday, December 2, 2008, by a man who had reportedly been stalking his girlfriend, Edythe Maa. Authorities say David Krieg killed the 40-year-old Ottaviano at Maa's Philadelphia, Pennsylvania, home. According to reports, Krieg then kidnapped Maa. Eventually, Maa convinced Krieg to let her go. After a lengthy standoff with police, Krieg committed suicide.
