A native of Pennsylvania, Anthony Lerew is a pitcher for the Atlanta Braves. He was drafted in 2001 by Braves, and made his Major League Baseball debut in 2005.

Tommy John Surgery
Lerew had Tommy John surgery in June 2007. The surgery, named for Los Angeles Dodger pitcher Tommy John, who successfully underwent the technique in 1974, replaces a ligament in the elbow with a tendon that is taken from another part of the arm or leg.
