August 9, 2008: Professional Motocross cyclist Anthony "Tony" Hart, brother of Carey Hart, was killed during a practice at the Strafford Springs Raceway in Strafford Springs, Connecticut. The practice was in preparation for the XTRM/AMA Supermoto Championship. He suffered a fatal head injury and was transported to a hospital where he was declared dead.

Originally called SuperBikers, Supermoto is a motorcycle racing circuit utilizing both on- and off-road tracks. Hart's death was the first in Supermoto's six-year history. According to Hart's team manager, the young racer had committed himself fully to racing in the previous eight months, after a period in his life where he suffered from limited focus.The team manager described Hart as passionate and dedicated to motorcycle racing. The night before the crash, they had stayed up until four in the morning discussing racing.
