I suspect the cat did it and framed the dog. Dogs aren't overly bright and cats are mischievous.

So it went down like this. Kitty saw a shiny bling in the tree and just had to have it. She jumped into the tree but in doing so made it fall over. She then went to the cupboard and got the dog biscuits and spread them around the base of the tree so the dog would come over and eat the food, thus placing him at the scene of the crime. Happy with her work, she went to lick herself and lie down for a nap. The dog comes in to eat the biscuit and only after consuming it and spreading his hair and saliva all over the floor, notices the tree. Suddenly he is confused. Did I do that, he thinks? And goes to hide, but not before checking around for some more treats that may have fallen off the tree.

Thus the saga of the fallen tree has ended.

But then I really have to ask, if a christmas tree falls in a house, and no one is there to hear it, does it make a sound?

LOL I have no answer to the age old riddle of the tree crash. but I totally believe the rest. Those cats always are bribing the dogs with their own treats...

The dogs and cats are innocent!!! Those sweet little critters would NEVER do such a thing! If you believe this, read on - - It probably was Santa! He was in a rush and being rather BIG in stature he accidentally knocked the tree over when he heard the dog barking. Rumor at the North Pole has it that Santa was conducting a trip investigation log and re-visiting certain people on his list AFTER Christmas. That would explain his rush and the toppling of your Christmas tree.

Ha, that’s funny! Well, I would likely investigate the area surrounding the Christmas tree, before making any such assumptions. Are there balls knocked off the tree or branches chewed off? Are tinsel and other decorations pulled off? If so, then yes, it is quite possible that your pets played a cruel Christmas joke on you, possibly for having been left alone at home over the holidays. LOL. However, it could also be that your tree simply gave out and some other force of nature caused it to topple. Maybe gravity took over and some instability of the tree and its stand caused it to fall. If the tree has been up for 20 days it could very well be that it has grown quite weak and is ready to retire for the season. Like many families, my husband and I had purchased our (first real) tree right after Thanksgiving, and so ours has been standing up for the past 3 ½ weeks as well. In the past week we noticed that our tree has started looking somewhat droopy and its branches were starting to sag downward to the floor, dropping ornaments. We have been watering our tree, however, it does not seem to be taking up any more water. Real trees are not meant to stand in a heated room for extended periods of time, so it is likely that the tree just gave up on you and called it a day. Right on time, since Christmas is now over. So just be happy the tree made it this long and have a good laugh over its collapse and most importantly do not punish your pets over the incident, even if it becomes clear that they did the deed, since they most likely won't remember what happened.

lol the tree is healthy just on it's side in the floor. Lol the pets all look guilty. But no one is in trouble nothing was damaged and it might have scared them when it happened. I thought it was a funny non conundrum to share :)
