You catch children from the neighborhood riding their snowmobiles through your snowy, but unfenced backyard. Do you ask them to leave & ...

... have a chat with their parents, or do you let it go and let them enjoy their wintery ride through your yard?

If they were causing damage to my property than I would ask them to leave, or advise their parents that if the snow isn't deep enough I would prefer them not ride through my yard as it damages my property. But unless I have some reason as to why I do not want it to be disturbed, I would let them play. They are children, and I would rather them play in the fields and yards, than to be riding on the side of the road and risk injury. I enjoy snowmobiling and other winter activities.
If they are causing a disturbance with noise, than perhaps suggest they choose other areas, or offer to tell them that you'll be working for the evening, ans they are welcome to ride then, but you'd like a little peace while you're home. Depending on the size of your yard, you may suggest a boundary that would not disturb you.

I would let them go as long as they weren't too close to the house, or destroying my plants.

This happens a lot up here.. it just is part of living in Alaska. I usually ignore them unless they 1. do it at ungodly hours and ride close to the house, 2. bother the dog or mess with anything on the property.

In the case of 1. I usually flag them down and ask them not to ride through my yard so early/late noting I have kids and there are no trespassing signs posted tech. I'm being nice letting them ride there at all. I've never had it escalate beyond that.

In the case of two I would again stop them, probably in a less than friendly manner and tell them if I see them on my property again I will shoot, as it's within my rights, the area is no trespassing. Granted I'd likely use a paint ball gun just to scare them or maybe a bbgun if it was repeated but.. usually they take the warning as enough.

my back yard is 10 acres. I have animals so it is fenced, but supposing I had the unfenced property beyond that I would be okay as long at it was not late when I was sleeping and that they didnt scare my animals.
