You can beat the Amazonian Death Worm by standing in a safe cave close to the entrance and using Flame Phoenix.
I did it today with level 2 Flame Phoenix and 4 ninpo slots. I could get two passes of the worm on each launch of the ninpo by waiting until the ground rumbled to cast it. I took a couple of shots at it with the bow while it was stopped, but I don't think it was even necessary.
