The key is finding a good spot to camp out, find some corner with 3 walls, if possible, 2 at the least, so you know where they are coming from and then just do what you can to hold them off. Where exactly the best spot is would depend on which map you are using.
Also, assuming you can pick up several shields, it helps to plant a few in a line just out in front of where you are camping, as an extra line of defence.
You shouldn't need cheats though.
