I think it goes without saying that the title goes to the Balrog. Nothing beats being a 3 story flaming giant. You automatically feel like the most BAMF thing in existence when you destroy an ent in 2 hits and everyone is fleeing from you. the witch king is pretty fun but still he doesnt hold a candle to the Balrog.
the sheer intimidation factor is amazing.
i had fun with most of the characters although nearly all the hero classes were just beefed up versions of the normal classes, the balrog is the exception.
tyeh game itself could have been so much better hence the poor reviews. but i guess that is what happens when EA is running the show. it's sad Pandemic used to make great games ie. Star Wars Battlefront series and Mercenaries. but as soon as EA aquired Pandemic, they have shipped 2 mediocre titles (mercenaries 2 and LOTR conquest) in a very short time span. i hope EA doesnt reduce Bioware to making shovelware as well =/

Balrog? Yeah, right. Samwise Gamgee is way more bad-ass. While Frodo was all "I'm tempted by this ring" and "that huge spider-thing is killing me" Sam was always there to get things done. He destroys the ring, right, saving the day for everybody, and then he goes straight home and has 14 children. That's a man's man, or rather a hobbit's hobbit.
