For nonfiction writing, On Writing Well by William K. Zinsser is a classic. It taught me the importance of writing clutter-free, concisely, and the significance of rewriting.

I also enjoy Stephen King's On Writing. I don't write much fiction anymore, but this book made me want to. It also changed the way I looked at fiction-writing, in general. Really interesting stuff from a master at fiction.
