You learn some of the logistics in writing a book. You learn about copyrights and licenses. You develop patience because it takes patience to proofread your work over and over until it is right. I am doing it again, because I enjoy it. I can say things to large amounts of people that I otherwise could not say. I'm not as brave as a Robert Heinlein perhaps, but I can still slaughter a sacred cow or two.
