Would you try a dog dye job for your pet dog? Why? Why not?

I have read an article online where a pet spa offers to dye your dog with different designs. Walking into Rouwen Pet Spat in Beijing China will make you will feel like you are entering a Halloween dog costume contest. They will dye your dog and you can choose from different designs like turtle-dog, zebra-dog, Spider-Man dog, tiger-dog and even panda-dog. Will you go with the latest craze and dye your dog too?

You can leave an optional "tip" with Mahalo's virtual currency, Mahalo Dollars. If you are asking a difficult question that might require some research, or if you'd like a wide variety of feedback, a higher tip often leads to more answers to your question.

No way, that is ridiculous and just mean to the dog. I also have to wonder how safe it is as dogs do clean themselves with their tongues.

I think my dog is beautiful in his natural form. I see no reason to dress, dye or paint him. In my opinion to do any of the above for the most part is a selfish decision as your dog hardly cares what he or she looks like. (the exception:dressing could be appropriate depending on breed and weather conditions.)

Plus it confuses people lol for example in that pic you have up there, people actually believed this was a new breed of dog called the panda dog and were willing to pay well for them. People will fall for anything.

I would be tempted to... but I'm not sure if I'll ever have the 'right' dog to do it with.
For some of these dye jobs you would have to have a completely white dog for a decent pallet.

The best dog for this would be a white poodle, since their hair is very much like ours. I know that all the dyes used are as harmless as food coloring... so I wouldn't worry about that. I don't mind seeing people express their individuality through their dog... hell, many people do that already with what type of dog they choose in the first place.

I currently have a black old Chihuahua that sleeps, grunts and farts, so I think I'll wait until my next baby comes along and see if dying is even an option!

If not... I will always have some crazy Halloween costume for my dog!

No I think this is a type of animal abuse when you start doing stupid things to them. To use a living thing as a form of entertainment for people is just selfish.

Oh my! No, as cute as it might be, I wouldn't spend my money on a dye job for a pet. There are so many other things in this world that we need. I would rather spend my money on the kids.

I agree it looks like something some people might want to try if you had the right pet. I have three black and tan dachshund mixes so I’m not sure they would be the best choice for a dye job. Actually my smallest dachshund gets enough comments as it is. She kind of looks like she’s had a dye job because she is what is called a silver dapple and it’s not a very common color for a dachshund. My beagle has some different coloring and some white spots. Someone who was very artistic could probably do something interesting with her.

Cost would certainly be an issue for me though. I’d rather have that money for their pet care and veterinarian cost than some funky dye job.
