Would you rather be blind or deaf? Would you rather lose the use of an arm or a leg?

(DISCLAIMER: My purpose in asking this question is not to offend anyone but merely to pose a question) Let's say for whatever reason you had to choose between losing your sight or the ability to hear which would you choose? And part two, which body part would you be willing to lose if you had to, your arm or your leg?

You can leave an optional "tip" with Mahalo's virtual currency, Mahalo Dollars. If you are asking a difficult question that might require some research, or if you'd like a wide variety of feedback, a higher tip often leads to more answers to your question.

First of all, thanks for including that disclaimer. I can see how your question can be misinterpreted by some people. I would also like to reuse your disclaimer on my answer, I simply would like to answer the question the most candid way I can. I blame it on my biology, but I easily compromise my health if I don't take a hike or go running a lot. And it's not just about my legs. I never use a threadmill because I am addicted to visiting places with my eyes and legs. I often feel bitter for not having been born with some trait or some belonging, but when I compare myself with the rest of humanity, I realize how lucky I am to have been born with very good levels of sight and hearing. I am also happy with my upper and lower limbs equally. So, I think I can answer your question in a balanced manner. I do not think anyone would rather be deaf than blind or legless than armless. I am not sure how deaf Beethoven was, but I read that he was totally deaf when he wrote his 9th symphony.

I would rather go deaf than blind. I would have alot more mobility and fit into society easier. I would rather lose a leg as I can get a fake one. Losing the use of my hands would be much more constricting to my activities.

For the most part, I'd rather be deaf than blind. Then again, I couldn't imagine not being able to hear music or people's voices. However, I think I'd rather be able to see their faces. I am legally blind without glasses. I have very thankful for them. I think it would be hard to be blind, after being able to see. I am torn on which would be better -- being blind from birth or blind later in life.

I also believe I'd rather lose an arm over a leg. I haven't given this as much thought as the other question, but I really like going and dancing. This would be constricted and limited with a bum or loss of a leg.

Now I would rather lose an arm or leg, or both over my eyes or hearing. I guess I value my senses more.

Fortunately, I can't think of a time anyone has really had to pick between one or the other. I guess you'd always wonder if you made the right decision.
