Would you purchase a small envelope which carried your credit card to protect you from identity theft?

I saw a product on The Pitchmen last night where this guy invented a little envelope to slide your credit card in and however it is constucted it blocks the credit card scanning machines to read the infomation from your card. Thieves can buy devices to read the info from you cards online and swipe your handbag or wallet and get your information. It's a great idea and hope it sells millions. I would purchase these. Did anyone see the show last night and this product?

Separate topics with commas, or by pressing return. Use the delete or backspace key to edit or remove existing topics.

You can leave an optional "tip" with Mahalo's virtual currency, Mahalo Dollars. If you are asking a difficult question that might require some research, or if you'd like a wide variety of feedback, a higher tip often leads to more answers to your question.

So it deactivates the card until you swipe it again or it just blocks these machines the thieves are using?

In the first case no, because I would have to carry the box with me too and as soon as thieves figured out the box reactivated the card if they steal your whole bag it kind of defeats the purpose.

In the second case maybe if I lived someplace where mugging/pit-pockets were an issue. I don't think I've ever even heard of anyone around here having their credit card stolen. However I was pit-pocketed within 3 days of moving to Germany so location in my opinion plays a part as I would wager those aren't that cheap and from your photo have a monthly fee.

the box isn't what i being sold, i just couldn't find a picture for it. It's small, just large enough to put the card in, kind of like a picture holder.

What a great idea! I would buy one of these, for sure! It's really scarey when you think how many scams are out there to harm hard working people! I didn't see the show, as I live in Europe, but surely this man will get good recognicion for his product. I work in the tourist industry, and I have heard some really awful stories from people who have had all their money taken from their accounts etc. Even going to an ATM is nerve-racking these days!

No, I have not seen it as we do not currently subscribe to cable TV. Well since thieves can also buy devices to read info from your credit cards online then it's still no use buying it. Or if your bag is being snatched from you while you're carrying it to your favorite shopping mall then the thieves can still use your credit cards because they should know how to use it, too. Who knows they already have bought one and have known how to use it too, lol. Thinking about this big possibility, you still are not safe. So for me, I would not bother buying one. I see it is only good for the inventor or seller of this product because they surely would earn millions from the sales of it.
