Would you please describe your job as a master control operator at a local digital television station?
I used to run master control at a CBS affiliate and an independent station. But that was 1992, and the latest thing was stereo audio. I'd like to know what it's like now with digital transmission. When you take satellite feeds, do you record the video, or is it more like a file transfer? Do you have to switch all the sub channels, or does one operator switch each one? Thanks.
By the way: "best answer" will go to a first person account from someone who actually has experience working at a local station. Feel free to solicit an answer from a friend who does this sort of work.
If all responses are of the "well, the US dept of labor says this is what MCOs do" i will mark this "no best answer." thanks
on the other hand, if i get several answers that i'm happy with, i will select a "best" but also tip the other real answerers.

You can leave an optional "tip" with Mahalo's virtual currency, Mahalo Dollars. If you are asking a difficult question that might require some research, or if you'd like a wide variety of feedback, a higher tip often leads to more answers to your question.
