Would you like to run for Senator from Louisiana?
I'm asking because Alvin Greene in South Carolina has just shown it is possible to win a major party primary with minimal qualifications and campaigning. But it's much cheaper here in Louisiana. The filing fee is only $600 and if you wish to run as a Democrat or Republican an additional $300. Other than that, the requirements are:
"The candidate shall have attained the age of 30 years, have been a citizen of the United States for 9 years, and be an inhabitant of Louisiana when elected."
In theory you could move here just before the election and rent an apartment or even a hotel room or maybe just a campsite.
You could also get on the ballot through signatures but that actually is more trouble and expense.
Of course, victory is not guaranteed and you don't get your money back if you lose.
The filing dates are July 7 to 9, the primary in August.
Neither the Green nor Reform parties have any announced candidates yet. If you wish to run as some unofficial party you would have 'Other' by your name, or you could run as an independent.
Other than being rather inexpensive, another benefit to running in Louisiana is that you get to pick a nickname and have it on the ballot with your real name. Any volunteers?

You can leave an optional "tip" with Mahalo's virtual currency, Mahalo Dollars. If you are asking a difficult question that might require some research, or if you'd like a wide variety of feedback, a higher tip often leads to more answers to your question.

I'll be right over.
I will run on the platform, "I will vote no to everything that costs money to help stop rampant spending. I am not an incumbent." I will be so clear on my stances it will shock anyone who is used to politicians who use vague doublespeak when talking about anything important. Ex. "Yes I am firmly pro-choice, and pro-separation of church and state. Next question? I am for second amendment rights too, the right to bare arms is pretty clear to me." People may be confused by me having a pretty friendly outlook on the Bill of Rights, where most politicians on the far left and right seem to hate one or more parts of it.
My nickname Cheapgamer will appeal to financial conservatives who will see "cheap". I will also appeal to the young and hip who will see "gamer".
It's a fun dream.

AWESOME, thanks man!
Thanks for the information Albanian! I will be looking them up.
Sounds like you might like to run on the Reform Party ticket. They haven't run any candidates lately; but, they are still on the ballot.
I'll move to LA just to vote for you!
