Would you like to know the day you're going to die ahead of time? Why or why not?

Tip for best answer: M$1.50
Separate topics with commas, or by pressing return. Use the delete or backspace key to edit or remove existing topics.

You can leave an optional "tip" with Mahalo's virtual currency, Mahalo Dollars. If you are asking a difficult question that might require some research, or if you'd like a wide variety of feedback, a higher tip often leads to more answers to your question.

I don't think I'd like to know the day I'm going to die sheerly because it would scare the hell out of me knowing I would be dying on that very day. Also I think I would have many sleepless nights just thinking about how I would die ad whether it would be painful etc. Just like someone with a terminal illness...

Personally, I would not want to know my death day. It would be too difficult to block the inevitable depression and anxiety associated with departure.

I prefer to concentrate on making the most of each day - "Live like you are dying" - and sharing an "everlasting" love with those near and dear. Focusing on these goals is a full time, rewarding adventure.

I think this is a really insightful question, and I also think it's human nature for us to wish to know everything, but truthfully this is one question I hope for a long time I won't know the answer to, for many reasons. Firstly, death is already a frightening experience for most people and I think it would be even more frightening to know when it was coming. Especially since we worry about things enough already.

Secondly, if you knew the day you were going to die, I think the time you would have left with your family/friends would be clouded with sadness, fear and grief and you wouldn't enjoy it as much, the constant idea that these are your last days would be in your mind constantly.

I think not knowing gives you the freedom to be happy, I know people say, be thankful for the days you have and life your life to the fullest, and live every day like its your last, but I think in general, Id much be happier living everyday like I had thousands more days left just like it, rather than living every day knowing such and such a date is the day I would die. So my main message would be....just live every day. I hope no technology is ever created that people could actually find out the exact date. It's too big a concept and a scary one, to even imagine right now
