Would you join Patients First?

Patients First is a non-profit group that opposes the America's Affordable Health Choices Act Of 2009, aka the government-operated health care plan. The group claims that "'Public Option' Is a Back Door to a Total Washington Takeover" and everyone in America will lose their choice of doctors, adding that "Washington Could Decide If Your Life Is Worth Saving."

I have been a health care provider for 30 years, and I would not join. Patients First is heavily funded by corporate money-- the health insurance industry as well as big oil and gas companies. The health insurance industry is pouring over $1.4 million a DAY to block health care reform. These companies make LOTS of money with the status quo. In fact, the more health care costs, the more health insurance companies make. Example: Blue Cross made record profits this past year. Too many people is the US have no entry to health care. And, despite the fear mongering rhetoric rgarding the proposed HC reform, no one is going to take away your health care plan if you are happy with it. And, people will not be denied health care at age 76 (the current rumor, it was 78 last week). If you say, "I don't want to pay to take care of others," well, guess what? You already do. In higher insurance premiums and in higher office visits and hospital charges. Listen, we people need to stop listening to the ridiculous accusations from all the speical interest groups, and really look at what is proposed. Go to Whitehouse.gov or some other related site, and see for yourselves.
Thanks for a great question!

Sounds like propaganda to me.

We've been hearing the same sort of thing for years when we're told about countries who have socialized medicine. The thing is, it's not true. I refer everyone to Michael Moore's "Sicko."

Health care is better where it is socialized, even in Cuba!

This is something the Democrats have wanted to do for years, I think the president is being sincere on this one and I will wait to see what the final bill is. there are things to oppose the president on, health care is not one. Im not saying this because I am a supported, I would be the first one to tell you I voted wrong, I do not think that "cash for clunkers" was well thought out. in that giving people money to send it overseas is a good idea, and telling us the lie that people are just buying what they want when actually they buy what is marketed to them. but I will say when it comes to health care this is one of the Democratic parties pet issues so I think it is in their best interest to try to put to together a good program. as of now I will not support anyone that wants to shut down what they are trying to do, because I think he is making a sincere effort, lets wait to see what the final product is before we oppose.

Although i'm not American, healthcare is an important issue. It is so important, that everyone been talking about it since the time of JFK. the way I see it, the reason that govermental healthcare is controversial, might be due to a gap in the qualities of services. In my country, we also have this sort of gap between clinics and hospitals. that's why unless it's an emergency, you have to go to the clinic first and get a clearance to go to the hospital, while hospitals are only few choices to go. Then again, limiting the choices for patients in the US health sevices might not be the right way to treat patients. and i do support the idea of patient's first!

The government has been too involved in healthcare with Medicaid and Medicare. They refuse to let the free market work, and now claim its insufficient to deal with health. No system is perfect. We have a very good health system for most, and the government wants to make it an okay system for everyone.

Health care is an important matter for the future, for everybody, for the sick or not sick. So yes I would probably join.
