Would you host an indie band at your house/apt for free tickets to see their show?

M$While it is cool for a week or two, the band lifestyle is not that much fun when it's in your own house at all times.
For me I got tiered of band practices, post show parties at 5 am on a weekday, not to mention the stream on unknown people invited over.
All this with a band where I knew all band members well already. Housing an unknown band would just be even worse. Count me out.

M$I might note that I have the space and the PA equipment too.

M$Yes I would do this, with several limitations.
1) I may not be able to host an intire band with gear.
Make sure there is an option to host one member.
2) I want to know these guys before hosting, you may want to post detailed bios & make sure that I can get to know somone before agreeing to the stay. I have a dry household so you can imagine me paired with a heavy drinker not happy!
3) I would want to know my guest's transportation needs. Do I need to be the one to drive him/her around?
Thanks.

M$well the band's gear would stay in their van. secondly, if a band is asking you if they can crash, I'd recommend everyone check their myspace, facebook, and their main website to do a little research on them and see if their actually on tour. I'd imagine their transportation would be their van, so hopefully they wouldn't ask for a ride .
I know someone who used to host shows in his basement. It wasn't unusual to end up with around 100 people along with the band in his house. He arranged for all his neighbors to either be invited to keep complaints down.

thats interesting you say that, because i thought of a similar idea of using my site to arrange house shows, throwing house concerts could be a extra stream of revenue for a band. And like you said it would help the relationship with fans.
