Would you go skiing if you were offered a free trip, but you didn't have health insurance?

If you don't like to ski, then pick any other incredibly fun but dangerous sport like bungie jumping, horseback riding, sky diving or surfing.
Tip for best answer: M$1.00

You can leave an optional "tip" with Mahalo's virtual currency, Mahalo Dollars. If you are asking a difficult question that might require some research, or if you'd like a wide variety of feedback, a higher tip often leads to more answers to your question.

I would totally take the trip and purchase a travelers health insurance policy for the time on the trip. I sourced a site below that gave me, a close to 40 year old, a rate of roughly 10 dollars a day for a $50,000 rider (which is a minimal stay, but I'm past the age of recklessness).

Cheers!

I would go on the trip but I would not ski.
I am a skier and snowboarder and have been since I was a kid but cannot go anymore due to my lack of health insurance. I have even turned down a free lift ticket to Attitash Ski area in New Hampshire (*superb skiing and boarding*) last season because of this.

A simple broken leg, arm, any bone really, would break me financially and cripple my efforts to improve my business to where I can afford health insurance. I need to be able to walk and lift and I would need income while I could not do these things. (so I need an AFLAC as well) Really is disappointing that I cannot risk my health for financial reasons by going on any sort of dangerous ski or adventure trip but that is the price and consequence I chose for myself when I went into business for myself.

Having and running your own business has its rewards and freedoms but the choices we make have trade-offs and being able to afford health insurance and go on ski trips is a self made sacrifice. Maybe next year.

Yes I would. What are they going to do if I get hurt throw me in the street. I have a friend whose wife works in the hospital and she tells me they actually have workers in the Hospital that help those that come in get Government help. You can't live your life scared to live it will make you a very lonely unhappy person.

There are so many people today that are uninsured. This is unfortunate to say the very least. However in my state it is required that every resident has an insurance or is enrolled in the state health program, and face severe tax penalties if they are not.

I would go skiing anyways though. You can't place you life on hold, for fear of having an accident or getting injured.

Until Obama's Health Plan passes I won't have health insurance and haven't for almost 10 years. If I avoided activities based on that criteria I'd not have done much of anything over the last decade.

Hopefully this Sunday will prove fruitful and a Health Care option will come available to me. Then my next adventure will be going to the Dentist! (Which for me is scarier than bungee jumping...)
