Would you go on a reality TV show for an embarrassing problem, if you got free help in return?

Families are "airing their dirty laundry," so to speak, on shows like "Intervention" and "Hoarders," in return for free, and needed, detox, counseling, etc for their loved ones. Would you go on a reality TV show and tell everyone your embarrassing problem, or your embarrassing family issue, if you got free services that would help with the problem?

Separate topics with commas, or by pressing return. Use the delete or backspace key to edit or remove existing topics.

You can leave an optional "tip" with Mahalo's virtual currency, Mahalo Dollars. If you are asking a difficult question that might require some research, or if you'd like a wide variety of feedback, a higher tip often leads to more answers to your question.

No, I definitely wouldn't go on a show like that. We live in an age where one wacko on an Internet forum can irrevocably get dirt on your Internet "permanent record," so to speak. But a reality TV show is a much bigger megaphone. My name will be out there, and it will be out there in association with a problem of some sort. Anyone can Google it and find out -- friends, potential employers, you name it. I don't need that kind of publicity.

I've seen those shows and have been hooked into many a marathon. I actually had to stop watching the shows because I'd be up all night watching just one more...

Anyway, the issues in shoes like "Intervention" and "Hoarders" are so severe that I guess the victims figure they really don't have anything to lose. Most of the people/friends/family around them are already aware of their problems so it isn't like they're confessing anything. So I guess my answer is yes, if I were getting free assistance in return and my issue were that severe I would do the reality show. I think a lot of people are also hoping that their stories help other people with the same problems.
