Would you ever run for political office, if you were asked by your party?

Tip for best answer: M$1.00
Separate topics with commas, or by pressing return. Use the delete or backspace key to edit or remove existing topics.

You can leave an optional "tip" with Mahalo's virtual currency, Mahalo Dollars. If you are asking a difficult question that might require some research, or if you'd like a wide variety of feedback, a higher tip often leads to more answers to your question.

I wouldn't. To be honest, I'm not sure I really intend to ever be that well liked. Politicians have to answer to too many people. I'd rather be in a position where I had significantly more control. Public office just isn't for me.

Being from, and residing in Mexico, my political party by affiliation is the PAN party. It would be described as being a center-right party. I support my party by attending events during election season, I am supportive during fund raisers, in the past I've volunteered my time, not just my money.

Being asked to run for office would be whole other matter. First, I have my business/job to think about. I am not at a stage in my life when I can just abandon my business and expect it to survive. Second, to be selected out of the blue by any political party seems suspicious to me. Normally when that happens it is because they are trying to capitalize on some aspect of your person, be it popularity, connections or money. Rarely is it devotion, conviction or ideals.

In all likelihood, unless I were to be solidly convinced that postulating myself for office would make a real difference, I would graciously decline.

No, it would require full disclosure of which I am not ready to do.
