Would you consider voting for Lou Dobbs for President?

Apparently, Lou Dobbs is considering a run in 2012:

Would you ever vote for him? Why?

No, I would not consider voting for Lou Dobbs.

While I appreciate his efforts to appear and even announce that he's a centrist moderate, those are mostly talking points and there is nothing concrete other than his opinion that convinces me that he could easily be bought and sold from whatever party or interest that would appear to be offering the greatest amount of exposure.

First and foremost, Lou Dobbs is a media person. His thoughts and opinions on political subjects and policies are just that. What has he given us in the way of proof to convince the American public that he can serve and offer valid solutions for running a country?

Being president isn't about being popular. It's about having experience enough to help offer support and service to the residents of the USA.

Nope, I probably would not vote for Lou Dobbs. There are some issues on which he and I agree, but for the most part, I find his views on immigration - which had overwhelmingly come to dominate his former CNN program - to be somewhat despicable. As well, I don't think his personal manner befits a U.S. President; he strikes me as an angry person with strong pre-conceived notions about the way the country works, who would likely not be open to dialogue and new ideas.

(I should also note that Dobbs helped to promote the Obama Birth Certificate controversy, which right there shows a lack of judgment.)

The current rumors are that Lou was born in Canada and thus can't be President of the United States. It's important to note that Lou has never denied these rumors and has yet to produce his birth certificate for authentication. Besides look at that face — he's got pancake eater written all over him!

Pancake eater? I can't find anyone else using that term at all. And, it doesn't sound insulting. We need a good term and slur for when we speak negatively of Canadians. The only one I can think of is Canuck, but that's not very useful because the Canadians use it themselves. This is a terrible situation. Not only do the Canadians not have a proper insulting word for themselves, but they don't even have any good bad stereotypes to use to make a new one. How about Nanooks? That's not actually insulting, but it sounds kind of like it ought to be insulting. That might be the best we can do.
Doesn't this sound better: "Besides look at that face — he's got Nanook written all over him!"

Didn't we already have a president who was probably born in Canada?

Maybe. It will be interesting to see Lou Dobbs the politician. There is something to be said about honesty because it is certainly rare with those types. I have a feeling you will know exactly where he stands on the issues which could force the same from any opponent. What we had in '08 was a nebulous platform for change. People wanted change, no question, but recent polls show they don't want the type of change that is being sought by the current administration. Obama was not clear about how he was going to change things and was even able to take phrases from the other side and use them in his positions. Like choice & competition for example. The current healthcare proposal offers neither of those and people are seeing through that.

I think what you will get in Dobbs, unless (or until) he is professionally packaged, is a straight-shooter. So at the very least you willl have a clear distinction between his position and those of his opponent. Then you can make your decision.

He will have to overcome the "crazy" factor with the birther debate and other previous positions as well, but others have had to deal with worse.

I personally don't think that somebody who makes a good political pundit or a political reporter would necessarily make a good candidate for public office. I don't think the issue is related to where he stands on the issues, but rather that he's made a profession of gaining public approval in the way that he presents himself. Presenting well is one aspect of public office, however much more important is a solid understanding of the mechanisms of government. Commenting, or scrutinizing is totally different then lobbying and petitioning for or against a movement. If he ran, I think that the majority of the public would associate his career with television, and not as a political power house (though he may be). I think it would be very difficult to consider him as a candidate for any office without proving himself, over time, in a public office.

My stance on voting for anyone boils down to who is the best option.

I find it doubtful I would vote for him. I agree with his stances on offshoring jobs, yet I find that he may be too hard on immigration. I also question his experience.

Yet if my only other choice is Sarah Palin, I would be sporting a Dobbs sticker on my car in a heartbeat.

It will be worth a look at his agenda if he runs as an Independent. It would be nice having someone who does not have the "party" cloud hanging over their heads. Will see what happens in the near future. More to come...

No I would not. I had not heard of him but looked him up for this answer. I disagree with him on major issues, although not all of them. He does not seem to have any relevant experience. I don't understand why he would be considered a legitimate candidate. Since he dislikes both major parties, it is hard to imagine him getting far.

I will vote for Lou Dobbs if ....I think he is a better candidate than the man/woman running against him, simple as that. I will vote for his opponent if I like the opponent better.

It really doesn't matter much to me their position on every issue as there in no one candidate that will suffice in meeting all of my expectations.

Voting in the presidential election has become picking the lesser of two evils and if Lou Dobbs were to run for the Presidency of the United States and he were in my eyes the lesser of two evils then absolutely I would vote for him.

I just hope I never have too.

lol, No I probably would not consider voting for Lou Dobbs for president in the US. Frankly I believe him to be (while very entertaining and partially informative) nothing but a loud mouth and pundit .

He reminds me very much of the pied piper. The man is very annoying.

Also: Lou is most prob. from canada so that would make him ineligible for the office.

PS: PN:
Thank you for the free advertising tho :o)

I really feel like he's crossed a line over to the radical conservative side with his appearance at a rally held by a known racist organization. I wouldn't vote for him for dog catcher, and I feel sorry for any state that gets him as its rep.

No way would I vote for Lou Dobbs for any political or other position. Besides his pompous attitude (which has not disqualified men from becoming president in the past), his views on immigration would be detrimental to our country if ever implemented. His identification with the "birther" movement is ridiculous. It will be a relief to see John King in Lou's spot on CNN. It would be interesting, however, to see what impact he would have if he ran for president as an independent.

No, I wouldn't vote for Lou Dobbs for several reasons the most critical one being the fact that by voting for him only reconfirms the same old dialectic pitting the left against the right, republican against the democrat, the liberal against the conservative.

The rest of the world is shading this destructive counter-productive and probably intentionally constructed and purposefully manipulated conflict to control all political outcomes.

We desperately need new institutions and ideas. Voting only brings us more of the same degenerate political ideas and while the plebeian class are arguing over political candidates (which Anericans seem to be very good at), the real dirty power politics goes on undetected. Lou Dobbs might be a decent human being who means well, but as a potential president he would not be in control of the corporate bureaucracies, banking, financial systems and military.

Politicians are basically spokes people for positions; I mean even Obama is a front man for a larger Democratic party power grouping of about 20 people. He is just the most compelling, believable, and polished. The divisiveness of American politics has made it hard for any one individual to manage the process, even from within the machine (Obama). So I would be highly suspect of anyone from outside the machine to be an effective leader, despite our (the public's) general interest in the individual.
