Would you approve of cloning procedures aimed at using the DNA in fossils to bring back a small dinosaur (herbivore) to study its anatomy?

If this were possible by implanting genetic material in the egg cells of bird embryos?

I think the Jurassic Park movie made some very interesting points about messing with nature. First it's one small herbivore, then you are building giant enclosures to house raptors and carnivorous animals. I think one of the lines of the movie was something like - Dr Grant says - You made velociraptors? (to the scientist) and the scientist says basically - yes we did because we could. (The whole idea of we don't necessarily have to do something just because we can.) In another part of the movie, Laura Dern's character says something to the effect of - we have no idea of the effect that these plants and animals will have because their ecosystems have been long extinct.

While movies often portray many of the worst aspects of what can happen when man messes around and plays god, it's probably not as far from the truth as we think. We just have to look at some of the past science fiction (especially some of the stories of Arthur C. Clarke) to see how science today is the science fiction of yesterday. And while I love science fiction, I'm not sure I want all of it to come true.

You know, I think I would. However, I have to admit that this is based on the "cool" factor rather than any ethical principles. If it worked, it would be incredibly interesting. It could also have far reaching ramifications, but I think it's worth the risk.

Since it's a herbivore then I would approve it, too. At least I know I'm safe when I can meet one on my way, lol.

I would approve of cloning herbivores for not only Anatomy, but for history, earth science and modern science as well. I'm actually really surprised that with the technology we have today, more has not been done with cloning.

They already have fossils to determine the shape of the dinosaurs I don't know what it could discover about anatomy as we pretty much know how it works. This would also lead to the return of all dinosaurs and extinct species once it could be done. Public or privately.
