Would there be any issues if Mahalo simply banned duplicate comments/answers from the same users?

We have been SWAMPED with spam over the past 8 weeks and I have been banning every one of the repeaters as I see them on MA or in the report log. Corey told me the devs are working on a new banning tool that will be 100% better than the one we have now and trust me it could not be finished a second too soon. These recent spammers are relentless.
So hang tight folks and please report, report, report, report and report and still report everything you find to be obvious spam (like the repeaters) and everything you find that is even suspiciously like spam. Report everything remotely spammy. The more you report the easier it is for me to get to all of their postings and to get the crap the leave here off of Mahalo Answer entirely.

I would suggest allowing members to suggest words to filter, or creating a tally by recording the posts that have been reported and creating an automated count of what words appear most often. At the same time you can create a list of safe words that will not get tallied. I don't think this should be too much trouble to program.

Speak of the devil! I just went to spy view and this is what I see. A Repeater!! If you see a single user making several postings consecutively in the spy view please go to those postings and report them. 99.999999% of the time these are the repeaters.
