Would Mike D'antoni and the Suns be better off in the long-run if he stayed in Phoenix?

No. MD had run his course in Phx, no pun intended. the removal of marion and the introduction of shaq into the suns game plan signaled a death knell for the frantic pace MD believes needed for his teams to win, sort of a poor mans Paul Westhead. In the NBA the lifecycle of the head coach, jerry sloan notwithstanding, is limited. MD had reached that point in Phx, with both upper management and with players. The Suns, whether they admit or not, are in rebuilding mode, and needed to dump MD to get that process started and MD gained professionally and financially by his move to the Big Apple. He gets his big check , and gets to run his offense and and add players that fit, while waiting to sign LBJ in '11.
