Would Halo 3 be a good gift for a Call of Duty player?

My best friend's husband is having a birthday soon. Since he is turning the big 30, she is having a surprise party for him. I want to buy him a gift that he will actually enjoy. I know that he has an xbox 360 and plays that Call of Duty all the time. He really enjoys it. I asked her, she says he doesn't have Halo 3.

Do you think he would enjoy it?
How does it compare?
Can he play it online with his friends?

Separate topics with commas, or by pressing return. Use the delete or backspace key to edit or remove existing topics.

You can leave an optional "tip" with Mahalo's virtual currency, Mahalo Dollars. If you are asking a difficult question that might require some research, or if you'd like a wide variety of feedback, a higher tip often leads to more answers to your question.

I wouldn't see why someone who enjoys FPS games wouldn't like Halo 3. Yes, there is a chance that one wouldn't, but I think it's worth a shot.

Halo takes place in a futuristic setting, in an alternate universe timeline, so that is the risk in buying a game for someone if you are not sure of their taste. Also, Halo 3 is a sequel, so if this person is not familiar with the Halo story, they might feel left out.

I wish I could recommend Halo Reach, which is a prequel of sorts to Halo, but that game may not be released by the time this person's birthday comes up.

Yes, Halo 3 would be the perfect gift for a Call of Duty player. Personally, I don't play either one, but I do have a teenage son who brings a LOT of friends over to our house. Call of Duty and Halo 3 are extremely popular with all of them. They can play it together over the internet, and tend to spend way too much time enjoying it.
