Many questions in reference to countries can be categorized by travel, I would think, or perhaps geography. Other questions seems like would be "general", and wouldn't need to indicate a particular country.
But if the desire is to let people see who is from what country, like they might want to meet up with people from a particular country, then it might be a good idea. It depends on the purpose of labeling things.

M$Allowing users to display their nationality or not may be interesting, but I don't think it it would help to make it mandated.
