Like everyone has pretty much said, you're looking for too much from the word "aid." I can aid someone in anything, good or bad, without any moral context. If you want to distinguish aid that goes for food, water, medical supplies, etc., you can modify it with the term "humanitarian" as in "humanitarian aid." Of course people will still slip in arms underneath the medical supplies.

Why is it called "Aid" when money given to Israel goes towards weapons?
I always thought when a country supplied "Aid" to another it was with food, water and other resources that poor developing countries need.

Considering it was a combination of America and Britain that decided we should give the Jewish people a piece of land we didn't actually own, it's only proper that we help cover their 'living' expenses. Just so happens that in order to live, the Israelis need to invest in quite a bit of weaponry.

Fighting for peace is a bit like f--king for virginity, but they obviously do need to defend themselves. Where they cross the line between defending themselves and taking offensive action, it's not my place to speculate. I just wish the radicals could go fight somewhere in the desert instead of in the middle of the damn city.

Aid covers defense. American aid has had more bomblets than food for as long as I can remember. Sometimes it is justified: in this case it is. It was the Arab states that refused the creation of a Palestinian state in 1948: they have been feeding on that wound for 60 years. Sometimes it is doubtful: it was in Vietnam. It was in Afghanistan 10 years ago: we armed the wrong people. I am not sure our Afghan policy is very clear right now.
