The game was very close though. It was tied with the Italians and won in penalties.
"Brazil won in the penalties. The Italians missed three of four kicks.
Brazil was four times champion. Brazilians refer to this cup as the Cup that Romário won for Brazil. "

The Los Angeles Economy.
L.A hosted 8 games of the FIFA 1994 World Cup, including two finals and the championship - a first for any City in the world.
The generated a massive $623 million dollars for the LA Economy. This fortune was ploughed directly into the metropolitan economy.
To put this amount into perspective, the final of the Superbowl that very year generated a mere $182 million.
The event produced a total of 1700 part-time jobs, and the combined revenue generated from Boston, New York and San-Francisco was in excess of $1.045 Billion Dollars.
If only the World Cup could be staged every year, on Wall Street. Hopefully then we could recover from the crimes of Bernie Madoff.

Brazil and Italy both missed their first kicks. They went goal-for-goal, for two kicks, and then Brazil took the lead 3-2 in penalty kicks when Carlos Verri (Dunga) scored.
Roberto Baggio was the last one to kick and went high. Therefore Brazil won in front of the American crowd.

RUGBY! I'm assuming that NICK over here means the sport that matters is rugby.
However, there was no rugby world cup in 1994. It was hosted by South Africa in 1995. the next one is in 2011, and I am very excited.
Brazil won the FIFA world cup in 1994, but I must say I think it should have been Costa Rica. They narrowly lost to Brazil in the semifinals... and I was born there (some bias, lol).
