Nope... that would make things Incredibly easy for the attacking team.

The Offside rule applies only when the ball is played. So all the attacking team would need to do is have someone play a long ball over the top of the center line and have their players run forward as soon as the ball was kicked...

Plus, the offside rule doesn't count when passing backwards. so, a player could run to the goal-line, and pass the ball back to get the keeper completely dislocated.

Offside is one of the most complex rules to master for any team, both offensive and defensive. But played accurately, it can win you the game.
