Working on a piece about Best Beaches in Southeast Florida. Any recommendations?

1. Check out Delray Beach. The public beach is a mile long and a sidewalk runs the whole length. Local and tourists love it. The water is usually clear. The beach is wide and there are adequate lifeguards. There is a charge for most parking.
The main street in Delray Beach is Atlantic Avenue. It runs through downtown and due east to A1A and the ocean. There are upscale boutiques, galleries, and restaurants lining Atlantic. Even if you don't need to buy anything, it is fun to look.
Delray Beach is on the Atlantic coast between West Palm Beach and Ft. Lauderdale.
2. South Beach, of course.
3. While I personally prefer the ocean to the Gulf of Mixico, the Sanibel/Captiva Island is a great place to visit. Sanibel is famous for its shells. The water is not crystal clear, but it is warm and enjoyable to swim in. The sand is soft. The water is very salty, so it is easy just to float around in the shallows. While South Seas Plantation on Captiva is the ultimate, there are plenty of more reasonably-priced hotels along the beaches.

I grew up in south Florida and now reside in central Florida. We visit Captiva every few years. The last time I was at South Beach, it wasn't "South Beach" yet.
