My favorite word is lugubrious. I just love the way it rolls off the tongue. La-goo-bree-us...it's just so fun to say!
Plus, I work with teenagers so I get to use it often when they are being overly-dramatic while upset about something. They all know what it means now.
It's also used in this fantastic song!

Kookookachoo.
It has also been spelled/pronounced Goobgoobgajoob. The first place I ever heard "kookookachoo" was in the Beatles song "I Am the Walrus." It's also in the song "Mrs. Robinson" by Simon and Garfunkel ("Koo-koo-katchoo, Mrs. Robinson/Jesus loves you more than you will know").
I use this word any time I feel like being completely random, listen to either of the above songs, or want to break an awkward silence.
"(kü-kü-kă-chü)
1. (interj.) A phrase used to express happiness, or when an event happens that seems completely random, and one desires to be obnoxious, they may find it is fun to yell out this interjection."

Definition: the act of throwing someone or something out of a window
More Info: http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Defenestration
Why: One of those "There's a word for that!?" words.
Do I use it a lot?: I'm a man of action, not words. But maybe: "Prepare thyself for defenestration!"

What is your favorite word, and why? Do you use it a lot?
(Compound words are OK.) Mine is "nucleation site". It's a cool science concept, and it just sounds so darn sexy. I don't use it a lot, unfortunately.

I like very random words that are very hard to fit anywhere into a sentence. (I like a challenge finding places for my vocabulary!) So, I'd say that my favorite word is probably: Kookookachoo.

I've recently been a fan of the word "Splat"... one of those things that came about in the office and suddenly it gained a life of it's own. Now everyone keeps using it in their emails simply because it is fun to say and gives a great visual when you read it.

lol - "ejaculation?" I hope you meant exclamation! That certainly wouldn't be a family-friendly panda.

My favorite words are "error" and "hoe," the former because I enjoy pronouncing it with an accented second syllable--incorrect, but much more fun to say--and the latter because I love dropping it into conversations at random and then following with Ken Jennings's Jeopardy! definition. For instance, "How was your day today?"
"Hoe."
"What?"
"This term for a long-handled gardening tool can also mean an immoral pleasure seeker."

"nonplussed" ... it took me forever to get that word into my vocabulary, after hearing it hundreds of times and never remembering what it meant. It is my favorite because of that, and because the word itself doesn't lend much to its meaning. I probably use it once a week at the most, since I don't like to sound too wordy. I'm sure there that many people reading the word on this site are nonplussed :)
