Do you mean enchanté which is commonly said when being introduced to someone?

That means enchanted or "pleased to meet you"

Google translate comes up with 'to sing' but I imagine your co-worker has heard 'enchanté'

Au chante would literally mean "with sings" as babelfish correctly pointed out. It really doesn't mean anything on it's own.

Enchanté is translated "pleased/delighted to meet you" and comes from "enchanted". It's usually said when people are introduced or make acquaintance. Take not that's it's mostly used in polite speaking by gentlemen and ladies usually of the same social standing. It's not appropiate to be used by people of lower social standing when meeting someone more important.

The word you are looking for is : enchanté. It is the equivalent of the English nice to meet you. It is a formal way to greet someone you meet for the first time.
You might be interested to hear it pronounced in French.
