The purpose of parenthesis are to clearify what is said in a sentance, therefore it is a part of the actual sentance. Parenthesis at the end of a sentance are always inside of the period (like this). However, if what is said in the parenthesis is a complete sentance itself then a period goes inside it and outside of it (An example would be this.).

You may also use parenthesis to (1) number parts of a sentance or (2) list items in a sentance.

Whichever you choose to use the parenthesis for you always put them inside the punctuation at the end of the sentance.

If the entire sentence is in parentheses, the parentheses are placed outside the period: (This is a sentence.)

The same goes for a question: (Is this a sentence?)

However, if the parentheses at the end of the sentence contain merely a phrase, the parentheses is placed inside the main punctuation: This is a sentence (with parentheses). OR: This is a sentence with parentheses (right?).
