About 1% of the population will suffer sex-related headaches at some point in their lives. Most of these headaches are harmless (except for their effect on sexual pleasure). The cause of sudden, severe headaches associated with orgasm is thought to be the abrupt increase in blood pressure associated with orgasm, which causes the blood vessels in the brain to dilate and increasing intracranial pressure. Usually, these headaches resolve as blood pressure returns to normal. Even so, you should discuss these headaches with your doctor, since abrupt headaches are also classic warning signs of stroke, and the orgasmic blood-pressure spike can damage weak blood vessels and in fact cause a stroke by itself.

I believe headaches often occur because of dehydration. Dehydration occurs when your body loses too much fluid which occurs when you don't drink enough water or lose alot of fluid through diarrhea, vomiting, sweating, or exercise.

Hmm interesting...I am definitely not dehydrated though.
You drink 8 glasses of water a day ? This would be my troubleshooting starting point, because often overlook the simplest of answers.

More than. Water is basically all I drink.
the next "simple" thing I would check would be your iron. Headaches are a often common symptom of iron deficiency. Women also lose iron through menstruation; they need 15 mg of iron a day.
Good sources of iron include :
RAISINS
Lean red meats
Chicken liver
Enriched breakfast cereals
Blackstrap molasses
Beans
Dried fruits
Nuts - pea nut butter

Beware of the "drink 8 glasses a day" myth!!!! It isn't the same ammount for everybody or every climate.
Hi,
@krusheasy is right about dehydration being one of the main reasons why a person will get a headache after orgasm.
Another solution, is to go much slower through sexual activity to help reduce a quick and sharp orgasm. This may help.
Often sexual activity in men/women can cause headaches. There are three main types:
Sudden onset:
This pattern applies in 70% of coital headaches, and begins just before, during, or immediately after orgasm. The headache is severe, usually throbbing, and may build over minutes or be explosive. Average duration is several hours.
Subacute, crescendo headache:
This pattern applies in approximately 25% of cases. The onset is much earlier than orgasm, with intensity increasing until the time of orgasm. Frequently in the back of the head, the pain is dull and aching. Rarely, nausea and vomiting may occur.
Postdural headache:
This is the least common of coital headaches. The pain occurs in the lower back of the head and is greatly increased then the patient stands. This form is more likely to be accompanied by nausea and vomiting.
If you suffer from one of these, then check with your doctor. You can take medication one to two hours before sexual activity to avoid headaches.

These types of headaches are called Coital Cephalalgia.
They're common in about 1% of the population and favor men vs. women. I've experienced them in the past.
Here are 3 things that might help you:
1)
Take a break.
Give your body a chance to "work itself out out".
2 weeks should be more than enough.
2)
It might not be a bad idea to see your doctor and request a CT. There is a very rare chance that a sudden onset of these types of headaches can point to a larger problem. A head CT can quickly and easily rule these things out.
3)
Sometimes, I'll pop an Aspirin (not Advil) before turning on Barry White. Chase the Aspirin with a good amount of water and you should have your bases covered. If your headaches appear reliably every time, you'll want to ask your Doctor about taking a daily beta blocker for a set period of time.
For more information, this article from the Mayo Clinic is quite good:

Hi @demanda - headaches can usually be managed in most situations - but I highly recommend that you **visit your doctor** to review your symptoms and to determine any possible therapies (treatments) to help mitigate onset in the future.
Besides, once you have some answers from your doc, you will have much more fun without worrying about - will I get another headache again this time...
I'm not a doctor but I have had migraines for years and finally found great relief from them with the help of my doctor and the right medication - don't try to figure it out on your own, as mentioned by many members here, headaches can in rare instances be a sign of certain other potentially risky health conditions.

My reaction to this question and answer varies between TMI and wow this is fascinating.
This has happened to me a few times, the first time it happened I freaked out and thought I was dying, turns out I had a sinus infection.
The next time it happened I went in and my doctor found out I had high blood pressure. Now it only happens when my blood pressure is out of control!

Interesting on both points - and both would be excellent reasons to have seen (I assume you did) your doctor - and for this asker to go ahead and visit their doctor to determine possible causes.
Yes if you are completely hydrated I would probably guess that your blood pressure is the reasons for your headaches. When I was pregnant I would get some serious headaches and often I would have to head out to the doctor just to make sure everything was okay. She would always explain them away with a drastic change in blood pressure, it wasn't always sky rocketing it could have been falling too. She said that any drastic change in blood pressure could bring on a serious headache, just your body letting you know things are not where it expects it to be. Once your pressure stabilizes your headache should subside. Hope this helps.

What's probably occurring is what's called a sex headache. Treatment consists of medications such as asparin or advil if the headache does not disappear. If this continues, you can take aspirin or advil beforehead as a preventive measure. You can read more about this here
http://www.mayoclinic.com/health/sex-headaches/DS00645
I would however see your doctor first to make sure there is no other underlying cause.

You may want to check your blood pressure. High blood pressure can cause headaches, dizziness, and blurred vision. Having an orgasm increases your blood pressure. It would only seem logical that would be the cause for both of your headaches. If it is your blood pressure, talk to your doctor about lowering your blood pressure.
Well it is because all of the blood goes to your *ahem* genitalia and thus leaving the brain with insufficient blood causing less oxygen to be in you head giving you a headache. If it happens all the time then you might want to hydrate yourself before and after sex.If it happens every time then Houston we have a problem.
