With weight training and cardio, what's the limit on calories I should be taking in? Trying to keep it at 1200 and no more.

Tip for best answer: M$0.25

Depends what you're trying to accomplish. Do you want to lose weight? If so, how much? Want to gain muscle mass?? How old are you and more importantly, what is your weight? All of these are factors that need to be known before being able to give a good answer to this question.

I'm not a health expert by any means, but I do know that a lot of this has to do with your particular body type. If you're tall, you probably need to take in more calories than that. Also, with weight training, generally you need more calories, not less.

I suggest you give us some more information. Then a health expert should be able to really help!

1200 is awfulyl low, the avergae male body requires1800- 2000 daily just to function.

Instead of going so low, I would stick at 2000, but clean foods, like vegetables, turkey, chicken, fish, fruit. I was on a 60/40 protein/fat diet for 2 years. I lost 4 belt loops but gained about20lbs in muscle. In that time, i had trouble making 2000 per day because the food i was eating was so 'clean' that i was stuffed all the time but the calories i was taking in was not enough so i had to also intake powdered protein.

I used the Men's Health forums (at that time) for guidance. It worked wonders.

The limit for calorie intake is different dependent on the individual but an accurate guide is to use this calculator-

http://www.bmi-calculator.net/bmr-calculator/

from adding your information you will get a good idea as to how many calories you burn every day without cardio. If your goal is to loose weight, take away 500 calories from the figure you get off this calculator.
