Wish me luck, I could really use some. Describe an elaborate/fun luck ritual!

Good luck old friend!! I wish you the best in your adventure!

You know, the best ritual I think of is kind of a fun one. Before every golf tournament, my ritual starts the night before by cleaning every single club I use. Once they look great, I put 13 balls and 13 tees in my bag along with my lucky black towel. Then I have a few beers and get some sleep.

However, the most important part of the ritual is immediately before stepping on the course. Once I get there, I park the car and turn off the engine. I take a deep breath, and let it out slowly....
Then I put in David Bowie's "Under Pressure" and listen to the whole song and just..... center myself, breathe deeply and soak it in.

It's VERY relaxing and believe it or not, and with that song on your mind, it sort of keeps you pleasantly distracted but focused at the same time - sort of tricking you mind into not stressing out.

Whether or not this ritual has actually brought me luck remains to be seen, however, I seem to do a littel better than when I'm just playing for fun!! Give it a shot when you're..."under pressure...." (yeah, I totally went there!!)

Best wishes and good luck!!!

I suppose "a quickie" would fall under "fun." Stranger things have happened.

More elaborate: When I was in college, from 1990 to 1993 I was on the radio. WMUC's studios are located at "3130 South Campus Dining Hall." Yes, we were located above one massive restaurant. When I got my first night show, it was 10 p.m. to 1 a.m. The "Ding Dongaroo," as I referred to it, was open .until midnight. So what wound up in my studio? One cheese steak and one order of hand-cut fries, both loaded with Tabasco Sauce, and a 32-oz. iced coffee. Every show--even when I moved to afternoons.

When I worked in DC, I was in a hospitality job. I needed to be "on" all the time. Around the corner from me, at 1620 L Street NW (I remember twelve years after I worked at a building around the corner from 1993 to 1998) was Au Bon Pain. For those of you who don't know it, ABP is a bakery/coffee shop/lunchtime soup-and-sandwich chain (see menu below).

Every morning, without fail, one of two things: A corn muffin or a toasted sesame bagel, light butter. BSing about sales, customers, employees, training, etc. with Tony the manager over breakfast was often part of the package.A handshake and a "See you" and coffee in hand, my day supervising a team of up to eight, spread throughout downtown DC, was ready to start.

If I really needed a pick-me-up for a hard business day, when I had moved to another location in DC with much more responsibility, I went to Reeves' Pastry Shop & Restaurant, on G Street between 13th & 14th Streets NW--right around the corner from The White House.

I'd sit at their lunch counter--almost always sitting within a few stools, almost always having the same waitress and always having the same damn thing: a ham salad sandwich on toasted rye. I'd never even had ham salad before I had it there--and I just picked it because I was frazzled and said, "I think I'll try something different." Ritualistically, it had to be followed by a slice of their fresh strawberry pie. If I was in a mood, I'd eat just the pie for lunch.

Gearing up for Halloween, I recently purchased the book "A Witch's Halloween by Gerina Dunwich. Although this "spell for good luck" is especially designated for Halloween, give it a try! Hey, if it doesn't work, Halloween is not that far away! LOL

"A Witch's Lucky Candle Spell"

"To bring good luck into your life, take a brand-new orange colored candle that has never been lit and anoint it with three drops of cinnamon, clove, or lotus oil. (Each one of these oils is said to possess strong luck-attracting vibrations, which make them ideal for this spell.) When the clock strikes midnight on Halloween, light the candle with a match and thrice recite the following incantation:

Brimstone, Moon, and Witch's Fire,
Candlelight's Bright Spell,
Good Luck Shall I Now Acquire,
Work Thy Magick Well.
Midnight Twelve, The Witching Hour,
Bring The Luck I Seek.
By Wax And Wick Now Work Thy Power
As These Words I Speak.
Harming None, This Spell Is Done,
By Law Of Three, So Mote It Be!

Gaze into the flame of the candle and fill your mind only with thoughts about good luck,."

Ok, so there you have it. The rest is up to you. I have a feeling it's ALL up to you!

When I was living in El Barrio (Mission) in San Francisco, there was a Santeria store down the block with candles, magic bags and good luck charms. As I got to know the neighbors, it was amazing at how they would constantly be doing things for good luck and protection from others who would hex them.

You said you want 'elaborate'.... well, this is the most elaborate good luck ritual I could find!

"Good Luck Ritual"

1. Fix with glue in a white cupboard, grains of rice forming a pyramid.
2. Smear the rice with cream of cocoa or chocolate.
3. Put it inside the cupboard.
4. Then, wrap it in a roll and bury it under a tree.
5. Throw a few coins on the ground afterward in gratitude of the good luck you'll receive.

*caution - video is creepy!
