Winners announced for Best How-To pages to be featured on the MahaloHowTo Blog!

Here are the Best How-To Pages to be featured this week on http://mahalohowto.com/!!!!

How to Decode a Wine Label—a super detailed page from @smartweb. Makes wine label reading seem really... interesting... even for people who are not connoisseurs.

How to Safely Walk Home at Night—a compassionately written page from @girlieq3000, filled with great tips for women to stay safe.

How to Clean Hardwood Floors—a beautifully laid out page from @gno. Lots of time and care was into this. It inspires me to clean my OWN floors!

How to Make Money From Your Blog—this is a great page. Not only does it help guide you in the process of getting revenue from your personal blog, but it goes over blogging/advertising etiquette. You get the sense that @tchachra has learned these tips from experience... and we're glad that he's sharing his knowledge with the Mahalo community!

If you want to learn how to become part of the How To Team, read this page: How to Join the How To Team. Take part in Rush Week, and help make Mahalo an informative and awesome community!

Happy How Tos, everybody!

Separate topics with commas, or by pressing return. Use the delete or backspace key to edit or remove existing topics.

You can leave an optional "tip" with Mahalo's virtual currency, Mahalo Dollars. If you are asking a difficult question that might require some research, or if you'd like a wide variety of feedback, a higher tip often leads to more answers to your question.

What an amazing job everyone! Can someone submit these all to:

delicious
stumbleupon
digg
reddit
http://www.mixx.com/

and post the URLs under here so we can all write comments on these?

How to clean hard wood floors just ranked #21 for me on Google. That's unacceptable considering our How to article is CLEARLY one of the 5 or 10 best on the internet.

Look at this garbage from eHow!
http://www.ehow.com/how_2045978_clean-hardwood-floors.html

how on earth are they beating us!?!!!??!? Grrr..... this shows how Google's search technology just can't tell the difference between a high quality article and a five point, 2 minute hack job!

We need to really work on promoting these articles as a group. If I was a how to writer I would be teaming up with my friends on Mahalo to spend as much time getting these socially marketed on the web as I did building them.

for example, are there message boards where people are asking these questions where we can answer people's questions and point to our articles for more information?

anyway, I'm really excited about the quality level. In fact, so excited that I've asked the How To team to look at the recently created how to articles and ask people to make specific ones even better!

rock on everyone!

http://www.mixx.com/stories/7970652/how_to_make_money_from_your_blog

if ten of use write an intelligent comment on this one, vote for it, etc. i bet we will see some traffic and suggestions to make the page better.

Jason, I'm confident as the pages age, they will rise to the top. eHow just has us on age for their established pages, and incoming links since they are already established.

As our pages increase in age, we continue to inlink, and we help each other advertise as you are suggesting, I have no doubt that the cream will rise to the top and we will dominate all the search engines.

Mahalo will become the standard for how How To's are done! =)

I have DUGG the How-TO. Digg it up. http://digg.com/d314ev5

I've already submitted mine to Digg and thrown the links all over my Facebook, but so far, no digg... not even 1, since I accidentally undugg it myself! (If anyone would be so kind as to give me a Digg, find it here. Searching google is http://www.google.ca/search?hl=en&client=firefox-a&rls=org.mozilla%3Aen-US%3Aofficial&hs=gSe&q=how+to+safely+walk+home+at+night&btnG=Search&meta= Result 1, and others rank anywhere from 2 - 7.

If anyone is doing a similar thing, like submitting to digg (the only one I have), I'd be more than happy to give them a click if they post it here! Maybe a new thread is in order where everyone posts links to their pages' diggs, reddits, etc and we can all work to move them up in the page ranking!

Thanks everyone! Everyone's pages are so great!

This makes me want to submit a page more often. Are we going to have this more often?

I think it can inspire a lot of people to make their pages even better in the hopes of getting mentioned on the blog.

Excellent choices! Congratulations to everyone.

Annek, thank you for including the links to the blog and Mahalo page. I've been toying with the idea of trying one of the Rush Week How-Tos and you just provided some great info to get me started.
